Ireland/Winnipeg Cathy is a native of Scramogue, Country Roscommon now living in Sligo. Her love for traditional singing was instilled at an early age, especially by her father. In the summer of 1990 Cathy met informally with Dervish and was shortly afterwards asked to join the band. Jordan McConnell has over 30 years as a guitar player, nearly half of that as a professional with the Grammy and Juno Award winning band The Duhks. His years of touring and constant playing have resulted in a broad experience as a musician and have also led him to an intimate understanding of the various aspects of a guitar’s function and playability. From sound production to set up, He has been involved in a love affair with the guitar for most of his life.

Rube and Rake

The Citadel House, 104 Main St, Lewisporte, NL

Home Routes Show: To call Canada your home can be a very vague statement. From the Rockies, all the way to the eastern shores of the Atlantic, there are many places one can lay their head. It’s not only the sheer distance between the two coasts, it’s the cultural differences that exist within them. Rube & Rake’s debut album, Back and Forth, explores this theme with a subtle grace, giving space in their arrangements to explore the issues they sing about. By performing as a two-piece, they’ve found a way to put an emphasis on their lyrical delivery. Whether a song is performed with a four-piece string band, or just a banjo and a guitar, the duo has stories to tell.

Citadel House events

Citadel House concert mandate

Citadel House has been bringing some of Newfoundland and Atlantic Canada's finest up and coming and emerging artists to the Citadel House venue in Lewisporte,NL since 2011.

In the most recent years Citadel House has started curating and promoting concerts in small intimate venues around Central Newfoundland.

Our mission is to help build a strong community of music discoverers who know that when they come to a Citadel House promoted event, they are going to be witnessing the highest caliber of talent. These venues also often offer the chance to meet the artist, in a no-pressure environment.

In addition to this, we also host An Open Stage for the UnderAge in Lewisporte, where youth under the age of 19 have the opportunity to play a show, on a real stage, to their peers, in a warm and encouraging environment. We hope to inspire the youth of the area and give them the space to practice their stage presence and hone their craft. While the stage is for those under the age of 19, the audience is all ages, and we encourage everyone to come watch the show! It is truly incredible to watch the progress of those who take to the stage, month after month.
